THE JOY OF GENEROSITY


Acts 20:35—“‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”


Deuteronomy 26:10-11 —“And you shall set [the first fruits] down before the LORD your God and worship before the LORD your God. And you shall rejoice in all the good that the LORD your God has given to you and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who is among you.”


Nehemiah 8:10-12—“Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”



Nehemiah 12:43—“And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard far away.”


Psalm 112:5—“It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice.”



Proverbs 11:24—“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.”


Proverbs 11:25—“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” 



Matthew 19:29 — “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.”


Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”(NIV) 


Acts 2:45-46—“And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts”


1 Timothy 6:17-19 — “Command those who are rich in this present world ... to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” (NIV)



2 Corinthians 9:7—“God loves a cheerful giver.”



Hebrews 11:26—“[Moses] considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.”



Hebrews 12:2—“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross”
