If the Ladder is the Vision,
And The Ladder Climber is the Visionary,
And those who Support the Vision are the Ladder Holders,
What are the Essential Qualities of each?
Let's look at:
"The 5 Essential Qualities Of
A Great Ladder Holder"
The five essential qualities we seek:
1. Strength. They have to be people who can handle both instruction and correction.
2. Attentiveness. They ought to be alert to what I'm saying and absorb it quickly. I don't want to give them the same lessons repeatedly.
3. Faithfulness. They must have faith in me as their leader and be committed to me. If they aren't faithful to me- if they aren't committed to the same vision I am- they'll abandon me
4. Firmness. Manipulative people won't be able to exploit them.
5. Loyalty. They don't always have to agree, but
(1) They may disagree with my head but not my heart.
(2) They may disagree with how I do things but not why I do things.
(3) They may disagree with my methods but not my motivations.
BOTTOM LINE: A GREAT LADDER HOLDER UNDERSTANDS THAT IT IS THEIR OWN RESPONSIBILITY TO CULTIVATE AND MAINTAIN AN UNOFFENDABLE HEART.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23
(YOU GUARD- H5341- natsar- Watch, to preserve from dangers to keep, to observe, guard with fidelity, keep secret, to be kept close, to be blockaded, to set the watchman)
(YOUR HEART - H3820 - LEB - INNER MAN, MIND, WILL, HEART, UNDERSTANDING, INNER PART, SOUL, KNOWLEDGE, THINKING, REFLECTION, MEMORY, INCLINATION RESOLUTION, DETERMINATION, CONSCIENCE, SEAT OF APPETITES, SEAT OF EMOTIONS, PASSIONS, SEAT OF COURAGE)
And blessed is the one who is not OFFENDED by me.” Mt 11:6 esv
(OFFENDED - G4624 - SKANDALIZO
1. to put a stumbling block or impediment in the way, upon which another may trip and fall
2. to entice to sin
3. to cause a person to begin to distrust, and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey
4. to begin to see in another what I disapprove of, and what hinders me from acknowledging his authority
5. to cause one to judge unfavorably or unjustly of another, to make indignant to be displeased)
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you? Church grumblers can be like spiritual snipers. Are you hit? Did this conversation take you out? BE FIRM
"All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. I share my heart with you so that you can BE LOYAL
Psalm 119:165
"Great peace have they who love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
LOVE WHAT I SAY, AND YOU’LL STICK AND STAY
LOOK FOR THE PARADIGM SHIFT :
"FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST
(ON BEHALF OF, IN CONSIDERATION OF HIM, THAT I MAY PLEASE THE ONE WHO SENT ME) ,
then, I am content
(DECIDE TO, DETERMINE TO, AND CHOOSE TO COUNT IT AS GOOD, FAVORABLE, PLEASURABLE)
with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
(It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. PSALM 119:71)
2 Corinthians 12:10The Message (MSG)
7-10 Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. (STAY IN TOUCH)
Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees.
No danger then of walking around high and mighty! At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, (REFRAME YOUR EXPERIENCES) and begged God to remove it.
Three times I did that, and then he told me,
My grace is enough; it’s all you need.
My strength comes into its own in your weakness.
My strength comes into its own in your weakness.
Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. (I HAVE THE ABILITY TO SHIFT MY FOCUS) It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.
Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, (I AM STEADFAST IN JOY/STRENGTH) these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over!
And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.
